Return
To introduce the newly appointed UNV Jordan programme officer, the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Luc Stevens met today with the UNV volunteers working in the country.   The meeting was an opportunity for them to unroll their experiences of working as a volunteer and the perceived impact that such experiences had on their lives. UN colleagues from various UN agencies in Jordan also participated at the meeting showing genuine interests towards the UNV volunteers.

In Jordan there are currently 13 volunteers in the UNV Programme. Ten of them are Jordanians, and three are internationals from Canada, Italy and South Korea. They deliver valuable services to UN operations in Jordan through their extensive intervention at UNIFEM, UNHCR and UNV Country Office Team.

Through the meeting, valuable contributions of the UN volunteers were highlighted and appreciated. “Working as a UNV volunteer is a gratifying experience. I am pleased that I deliver benefits to others, and in the course of doing so, I also experience many benefits back. I would like to encourage more youth and women to join me on this rewarding endeavor.” said Haya Qbailat, a National UNV Specialist.

The United Nations Volunteers is the UN organization that supports sustainable human development globally through the promotion of volunteerism, including the mobilization of volunteers.
