Mr. Ove Bjerregaard UNDP Resident Representative a.i expressed a sincere hope that "through such initiatives we will be able to contribute towards building the capacity of small scale NGO's on issues related to women, human rights and conflict resolution in order to enable them to better serve their local communities".
Aiming to enhance the role of Jordanian NGO's active in the field of human rights; the initiative is unique in the sense that it targets NGO's that have limited background information on rights related to women and children, lack access to funds and training. The initiative hopes to build capacity in training skills as well as raise awareness on issues related to human rights and conflict resolution in order to better help serve the local community.
The initiative will be implemented in two phases; the first phase involves two training workshops to selected NGO's that will focus on training of trainers, human rights and conflict resolution sessions. In the following phase, trained NGO's will learn how to deliver quality awareness sessions to the local community.
The Pioneer Women's Center was established in 1998 with the aim of enhancing women's active role in society by providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills that they need. The center is headed by Ms. Nuha Ma'ayta, a respected former Member of Parliament.
