Return
On Thursday, a workshop was held at Grand Hyatt Amman to launch the CCA/UNDAF process in Jordan, taking place under the auspisis of the UN Resident Coordinator, the event emphasized the gains generated by increased aid coordination and harmonized support to national development. The CCA/UNDAF process is led by the Government and supported by the UN family and other development partners.

The CCA/UNDAF process is designed to support the National Social and Economic Programme and to bring greater coherence to development assistance operations at country level through a coordinated effort involving all stakeholders through a joint exercise comprising two stages: the Common Country Assessment focusing on major issues and challenges met by the country and the follow up UN strategy designed as a common framework for all initiatives and programmes implemented by the community of partners in national development.

The goal of this ambitious process launched on Thursday by the UN system and its major partners (Government Offices, NGOs and representatives of the Private Sector) is ultimately to provide greater strategic focus to the aid provided to the country and to strengthen linkages between UN Agencies, the national government and their partners.

With a view to better supporting the process, six thematic groups have been established, mandated to carry on in depth discussions on Social development, Poverty and Unemployment, ICT development, Governorates Development, Private sector Development and on Environment and Water Resources Management.

The dialogue, initiated on Thursday, marks the start of a new intensive interaction expected to lead to the endorsement of a Development Framework within 3 months.
