H.E. Suhair Al-Ali, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Christine McNab, the Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed today the Minutes of the Mid Term Program Review (MTR) Meeting. The MTR meeting that was held late last month discussed how UNDP can enhance effectiveness, improve efficiency and increase positive impact of its programme on the lives of Jordanians.

At this significant meeting, which reinforces transparency the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation reaffirmed the value of UNDP's efforts in supporting the Government of Jordan in its aspiration towards sustainable development and livelihood improvement of all Jordanians.

 In reply, the UNDP Resident Representative, declared the MTR as an excellent opportunity to reflect on achievements to date, problems encountered along the way, and solutions to enhance the volume and quality of project delivery between now and the end of the programme cycle in December 2007.

 The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation has been steadfast in harmonizing, streamlining as well as institutionalizing the existing relationship with the UNDP as part of the overall framework of the Government of Jordan relations with the donor community.

 The MTR was carried out jointly by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and UNDP with an independent consultant leading the team.  The review team has made recommendations for further strengthening the programme and improving the speed of project implementation.  The programme, which focuses on poverty issues, governance and environment, was found to be in line with both Government of Jordan and UNDP goals, including the Millennium Development Goals
