UNDP Jordan

UNDP has more than 30 years of experience in Jordan, providing financial & technical assistance since 1976.

National ownership is one of the most important principles and approaches in UNDP’s work. To this end, UNDP has recently review how it works with its national partners and has developed a new approach that adopts the Paris Declaration Principles on Aid effectiveness for all its new programmes of support. UNDP programmes in Jordan are based on the premise that the government has the primary responsibility for the development of its country and for setting and leading the national development agenda.

UNDP’s current programme (CPAP) is based on the UN Country Common Assessment (CCA) and the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), derived from, and responding to, the strategic planning

documents of the country, namely, the National Agenda and the Kulluna Al Urdun, (We Are All Jordan).

In Jordan, UNDP’s focus is to support the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in providing solutions to the challenges of:

Reducing Poverty and Achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

Promoting Democratic Governance

Climate Change and Protecting the Environment

Management and Preparedness for Potential Disasters

In all these areas of support, UNDP pays particular attention to connecting to the UN global knowledge networks, promoting gender equity, inclusion of youth in development programmes, and the protection and promotion of human rights.

UNDP Jordan Vision
