Human Resources Management

The UNDP Human Resources Management Unit (HRMU) is responsible for providing high quality human resources management and advisory services to the country office, and to staff attached to projects supported by the UNDP Jordan office. The unit also provides services to other United Nations organizations in Jordan when required.

Selection and Recruitment

The HRMU manages the various steps in selection and recruitment processes, including writing and classifying job descriptions, preparing and circulating vacancy announcements, both online and in the printed media. Subsequent screening and interviewing of potential applicants is followed by final preparation of contracts for those who are successful.

Contracts and Entitlements

The unit manages all aspects of personnel contracts and entitlements related to different contractual modalities, including administration of salaries, various types of leave, medical assistance, pensions, life insurance, separations, and international relocations as well as other relevant benefits and entitlements.

Human Resources Advice

The staff of the unit provide guidance and advice on all aspects of human resource management, as elaborated in the UNDP 2008-2011 Human Resources People Centered Strategy, including advice on talent sourcing and management, staff capacity, performance and development, and promotion of an enabling environment.

Learning and Capacity Development

The HRMU is also responsible for designing and implementing an annual learning programme with staff.

The learning programme responds to the development needs of staff while integrating these with the office vision, corporate directions and aspirations as outlined in the UNDP 2008-2011 Human Resources People Centered Strategy. Staff are provided with time for learning that allows them to meet the relevant requirements.
