Ownership: Developing countries set their own strategies, improve their institutions and tackle corruption.
UNDP Jordan will: ensure that any new programme of support to the Government or other institutions of the state will be within the context of supporting the mandate of the targeted institution. These institutions will become the Implementing Partners, (IP) of the programme of support. The relevant Directorate/Department as the IP will become responsible for the daily management and implementation of UNDP’s programme of support.
UNDP will endeavor to ensure that the IP leads in the design of the project document, that it represents a genuine need on their part, and that a tailored capacity development process will be adopted to meet the needs of the IP.
UNDP will also provide high level policy advice to assist IPs in developing and implementing national strategies and national plans, including the provision of institutional reviews, if required. It will also assist the government in fulfilling its obligations they have undertaken in signaling international treaties and conventions and achieving internationally agreed standards. In addition, it will advocate for including MDGs in the government’s national policies and strategies.
