Objectives

  • The projects objective is to pilot a new, innovative and cost-effective approach, termed "double-mainstreaming", that seeks to integrate flyway issues into existing national or donor-funded "vehicles" of reform or change management in the key sectors through the provision of technical tools, content, services and support.

Key Expected Results

  • This project is expected to raise awareness of the flyway and altered social and cultural behaviours among target groups that threaten Migratory Soaring birds MSBs in the key sectors, decision-makers and the general public. Also to increase the capacity at national and regional levels to effect double mainstreaming and application of flyway concept.
  • This project is also expected to mainstream and develop flyway friendly practices through content and tools at both levels national and international. 
     

 

Key Achievements todate

The project was initiated in April 2008. The national team was recruited and has established the link with the regional team. 

The project organized an inception workshop that took place in May 2009 to launch the project officially at the national level.

The project has conducted several meetings at the community level to launch the project including in Dana, Ghor and Aqaba) 

Furthermore the awareness materials (brochures, Posters, etc.) were produced and distributed to some targeted sectors such as the Royal Rangers, bottleneck sites. Printing out 2000 Posters, and 10000 leaflets, and start distributing them across the Rift Valley area, and related partners. 
Four building capacities workshop at the national level, which were targeting some Jordanians Judges & Royal Rangers staff, Jordan custom employees took place.
More than 24 articles and press releases through the Jordanian newspapers in 2010.

Hunter’s questionnaire was distributed, collected and analyes  and meeting the hunters at the sites.

Three inceptions workshops took place at the bottleneck sites, North, Middle, South of Jordan.

Several meetings with other vehicle representatives, Energy, Waste &Agriculture vehicles. 

The project is undergoing review process which may end up with a very different implementation modality.
